Friday - Sunday - Fatty ‘Cue, Hunger Games and Staying In
I had quite an eventful Friday which lead to lots of sitting around the rest of the weekend. Friday, as you all know, was the opening of Hunger Games and I was really excited to see it. LC & I had set-up a double date with our beaus. RC’s friend owns the Fatty chain of restaurants so we decided to finally try one before the movie. Fatty ‘Cue on Carmine is very close to my office, as after a quick Happy Hour drink at Cowgirl, we headed over for a delicious meal. (Yes we broke Lent, twice, meat on Friday and eating out, but sometime you have to bend the rules!) My favorite dish was the Smoked Lamb Shoulder. Yumm! All of the food was tapas style, Asian influenced and extremely good. A+
What didn’t get an A+? The Hunger Games. The shaky camera work, drawn out story line (similar to the book but felt too much for a movie) and unattractiveness of the male cast kept me from fully enjoying it. There were weird moments where our audience laughed at things that were not meant to be funny and corny portions where they had to explain things through the game makers. I was glad I saw it, but I could have waited a week and seen a matinee.
The rest of the weekend was spent working out, relaxing, making dinner with my beau, watching my March Madness bracket go to sh!t and watch the Muppet Movie! It exceed my expectations thought I think some of the Muppet voices were a little off (namely Miss Piggy & Fozzy). I’m glad I finally go to see it and I could really tell Bret’s (of FOTC) influence in the music. To end the weekend I headed back to Manhattan and finished a great book - Leaving Microsoft to Change the World. More about the book later.
Although we did a lot, not too much was spent over the three days. Here’s a breakdown:
$4.50 - HH Blue Moon at Cowgirl (that includes a $1 tip!)
$40 - Dinner at Fatty ‘Cue (7 tapas style dishes)
FREE - Large soda at the movies (courtesy of LC & AMC stubs)
$16.50 - LIRR to Long Island to stay with RC
$8.50 - Ice cream and movie snacks
Grand total for the weekend: $69.50 A little splurge, but I knew it was coming and planned for it. Plus I just got ~$28 from my half.com sales. So that was a great to offset the costs, so it felt more like $40!
